Case managers throughout the UK are continuing to endorse Calvert Reconnections’ “life-changing” approach to ABI rehabilitation.

“The service is hugely impressive,” said Independent Case Manager, Christina Wilks.

“The team are delivering life-changing outcomes for participants and their approach is unique.  Their personalised rehabilitation plans combine cognitive and physical rehabilitation with vocational and outdoor activities while the non-clinical environment really sets the service apart.”

Added Christina: “It’s also good to know that the service is part of the Lake District Calvert Trust, a charity with a proven track record for making a difference.  Reconnections’ ethos and their vision is positive.”

Andrew Patterson, Business Clinical Lead at JSP added: “There’s no such thing as ‘no’ in the service.  The team are so good and their enthusiasm is infectious.

“I love that all options to explore facilitating an activity will be considered.  It’s the whole package in a unique and memorable location.”

Reconnections, which opened in June 2021, has an interdisciplinary team which includes Neuro Occupational Therapists, Neuro Physiotherapists, Neuro Speech and Language Therapists, Neuro Psychologists, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners and Rehabilitation Coaches.

Compelling evidence supports Reconnections’ approach to ABI rehab, with the majority of participants progressing on to independent living after leaving the service. Other outcomes include:

  • 100% improved their ability to carry out everyday activities.
  • 100% needed less support when they were discharged.
  • 100% reported an improved hope for the future and an improved sense of purpose and direction in their life.
  • 90% achieved their goals.
  • 80% felt more empowered through greater participation and control over decisions that affect their lives.
